San Diego: Day One

I thought I had everything planned out: hotel, food, activities, clothes, and coffee breaks. But you can never be too prepared with two little boys stuck in a vehicle for six hours. Actually, I should revise that: you can never be prepared to be stuck in a vehicle for any amount of time with Cash.

Let me try to explain my baby. He is loud, constantly seeking attention, always plotting to steal every blanket in a five mile radius, refuses to sleep if there is an iota of activity surrounding him, and he screams if he is happy, sad, angry, indifferent, tired, well-rested, and so on.

The first hour of the trip was exhausting because Cash just could not get used to the idea of being restrained. Around the time he finally fell asleep, we stopped. Fabulous.

When we FINALLY made it to San Diego our hotel wasn't ready for us to check in, so we headed to the beach, which was right across the street. We stayed in Mission Bay and I was pleased that the bay was in fact...a bay... and there would be no open water to wash my babies out to sea.

B is usually very wary of swimming pools, but he was different about the ocean: he could not get enough of it. When we dragged them out of the water they sat and played in the sand. Cash was perplexed to say the least and B could not get enough sand in his bucket fast enough.

Cash got sand in every orifice of his body, especially his nose and ears.
The drool adds a special touch.
Any frustration from our harried morning completely evaporated and we were finally on VACATION. In fact, it was the first vacation we had taken together as a family of four.

Nothing could beat being with my three favorite people.

Especially when these things were happening:

More to come...

A confession: I have a tradition (predilection?) of photographing my bare feet with any current beach, ocean, cabana in the background, so I loved yours with jade green toes!
